All people experience food yearnings. And just what is a yearning? Well a craving is an awful desire for a specific kind of food, normally to please one's palate, not just to please cravings. You may find your daily or weekly yearning is felt for sugary sweets like candy, or chocolate. For others it might be a yearning for fatty potato chips or an extra glass of beer.

But, do not worry. The periodic craving is not an issue, in fact, sometimes it is really a favorable experience. In the future, when you have been good with your consuming habits you can indulge your cravings, pleasing those needs or desires as a benefit for all of your effort. The trick lies in not permitting yourself to become continuously overwhelmed by your yearnings and give in frequently.

What lies at the heart of your yearnings? You may think that your bad habits are accountable for this craving, or that you have extremely little bit will power. Although, these might be partially at fault, this doesn't tell the whole story. Food yearnings are also biologically based. In order to beat the food yearning we need to understand these underlying factors.

Blood Sugar & Serotonin

In response your brain signals that it needs something to raise your blood glucose levels. This extremely natural pattern is at the base of your yearning for sugar or carbs. Furthermore, another chain reaction that triggers your yearnings involves Serotonin, our bodies' feel-good hormone. When your body has a low level of Serotonin it tries to compensate by forcing you to consume sugar or carbohydrates to raise blood glucose and Serotonin levels.

But carbohydrates (such as sugar) only release a brief burst of serotonin, quickly fading after being ingested and absorbed; when Serotonin levels and blood sugar level levels fall back down, the yearning returns.

But, there is another significant reason beating your cravings is so tough (and why they appear in the first place)!

Adrenal Fatigue

If you are stressed out, not received a restful night sleep, or are simply plain tired for no specific factor you are probably suffering from adrenal tiredness.

Adrenal Fatigue, just like the process outlined above, includes your body sending a signal to the brain for a pick-me-up which is your craving for sugar or carbohydrate treats, or may be, coffee throughout the day; in the evening you may search for alcohol or carbohydrates. All of this only makes the issue even worse.

Beating the craving

If you value the standard reasons for the yearning, then beating the food yearning can be done. It may take a little time but it can be done. To break food yearnings, the body needs healthy foods, additional dietary supplements sometimes; this and moderate workout can help curb cravings. This procedure may spend some time, but you will prosper.
